Make room for viewer's imagination

I took a picture of the Smokey Hollow gorge. Upon review I thought I would crop it. Because it cuts out a lot of the surrounding, it leaves it up to the viewer's imagination to fill in the missing details. More interesting photo you think?

What are these bugs? I've never seen them before. I saw them at my parents' place the other day. Lots of them in soil or grassy areas.
